A little History...The Centennial Aviation Academy (CAA) started out in 2006 as the Centennial Aviation Club by founder Capt. Rohan Bhatia. Although just 16 years old at the time, Capt. Bhatia had a then had a vision to create one of the nations only flight schools dedicated to students. As the years progressed, the flying club did indeed became more of a ground school and eventually emerged into what is now CAA. Presently, CAA is a flight school operating under FAA 14 CFR Part 61 rules and is an authorized provider of training to domestic and foreign nationals under the TSA Alien Flight Student Program. CAA has developed a unique multi-step pilot training program that caters specifically to training young students ages 12+ to become certified pilots. Training formally begins with the entrance into any of CAA’s Academy classes . All ground and flight time obtained in the program can be counted and logged so that students can obtain their pilots certificate at the appropriate and legal age (16 to fly solo and 17 to carry passengers with a Private Pilot Certificate). CAA differs from a normal flight school in that most schools do not start training until students are at least 15 years of age; that being said, no FAA rule currently prohibits training of students younger than 15. The training program offered by CAA is set up so that students can begin the flight academy once they are in the 6th grade (or higher) and build up on their experience until they are ready to obtain their own pilot certificates. The program is designed to help students correlate their skill level and knowledge to both their normal school and flight training. Students in CAA’s academy classes develop an advanced understanding of core subjects such as physics, biology, algebra and geometry. Other benefits of the program include students obtaining an advanced knowledge of safety, time/resource management, proper work ethic, accountability, self-discipline and healthy living among others.
