OBJECTIVE: To develop the pilot’s skill and knowledge of postflight procedures.

COMPLETION STANDARDS

• Exhibits knowledge of the elements related to after landing, parking and securing procedures 
  
• Maintains directional control after touchdown while decelerating to an appropriate speed.
  
• Observes runway hold lines and other surface control markings and lighting 
  
• Parks in an appropriate area, considering the safety of nearby persons and property 
  
• Follows the appropriate procedure for engine shutdown 
  
• Completes the appropriate checklist 
  
• Conducts an appropriate postflight inspection and secures the aircraft 
  

COMMON ERRORS

• Failure to follow recommended procedures 
  
• Poor planning, improper procedure, or faulty judgment in performance of postflight procedures 
  

THINGS TO REMEMBER

• Clear the hold short lines, then come to complete stop, then clean up aircraft 
  
• FLAPS -- VERIFIED, and UP! 
  
• REMMM unless person approaches aircraft then Mixture and Mags-OFF 
  
• FACTT for cleanup 
  
• No passenger deplaning with any propeller turning 
  
• Postflight walkaround, get used to it, you’re going to do it every time.
